![]() Pitch management is a very important skill to master in these games, and most people don't bother with it! Essentially pitch is the angle that the nose of the craft points, this affects your crafts grip. This is something I even see the Pros of the modern WipEouts failing at. This will allow you to correct any line through a corner and avoid a nasty collision. Even us pros oversteer sometimes, but tapping the opposite break to your turn will extend it. This will give you a clean line through any corner and will improve your lap times!Īs mentioned by Ishy, opposite breaking is an important skill in the PS1 games. But the general rule of thumb is: approach a corner from the outside, turn into the apex of the corner (inside), then exit the corner on the outside (best explained with a visual aid). If you don't know what a racing line is then a quick Google or Youtube search will give you a plethora of learning aides. The PS1 games punish bad racing lines due to the drifty physics. Good racing lines are crucial to success!! This coincides with tip 3. Therefore you need to turn earlier in order to get those craft around most corners in a efficient manner. The PS1 games though, the craft are very slippery and drift a lot. Pure and onwards have very direct steering and control (not like F-zero though). ![]() Turn early! The physics in the original trilogy are vastly different to modern WipEouts. Sadly Feisar is too slow and Auricom/Qirex are too heavy and clunky to effectively use for most pilots. This makes the team very competitive across all tracks and speeds. AG is perhaps the best all round team in the game, decent speed, handling, mass but the best acceleration. This one is specific to the original WipEout use AG-Systems. Once you're familiar with a track, try a different speed or team, rinse and repeat until you know every track inside and out. Start by learning the layout/corners, then set a time and just try and get faster little by little each time. Spend a couple of hours in time trial mode to simply learn the tracks. ![]() I know everyone says this but it holds true, practice makes perfect. This is applicable across all the games in the franchise. But here are my hints/tips for the original trilogy: As stated before, the original WipEout is f**king hard nowadays, along with both 2097 and 3. ![]()
